EENGEO provided geotechnical recommendations for enhancements at Boarding Area A of Terminal 1, including replacement of all Passenger Boarding Bridges (PBB) and construction of a new bus terminal. PBB replacements were executed using staged-construction techniques to minimize disturbance to the on-going airport operations. Geotechnical recommendations addressed the potential support of new pile caps and superstructure using new micropiles. ENGEO provided continuous observation of the micropile foundation installation.
The geotechnical conditions vary significantly across Boarding Area A. ENGEO interpreted the existing geotechnical data and provided unique recommendations for different gates in an effort to make the design more efficient. Additionally, ENGEO worked with the contractor to interpret micropile load test data and optimize the micropile lengths.
Many design changes arose during the early phases of the project. ENGEO quickly addressed geotechnical questions related to each proposed design and provided additional recommendations as required.
